I am Renata Puckett. I plant mainly gifted and some bought plants in Morgan County, Alabama. I grow and divide them to fill my country gardens around the house. I have plenty of space to fill, since we have four acres around the house. It’s a lot of work but also a lot of pleasure to see my plants in bloom or as a background for the blooms. I try to mix colors and textures and have something blooming all the time. I start each season by watching for buttercups and end with ginger lilies. I have some shade and sunny spots. The pictures were taken on June 21.
Beautiful colored foliage and a splash of red from a gladiolus (Gladiolus hybrid, Zones 8–10 or as a tender bulb)
Glowing daylilies (Hemerocallis hybrids, Zones 4–9) grow next to hens-and-chicks (Sempervivium, Zones 3–9). Hardy succulents like hens-and-chicks are great choices for small containers because small containers can dry out fast and these plants don’t mind that.
A couple of chairs are positioned to make it easy to sit and enjoy the space.
More daylilies, with the bold leaves of elephant’s ear (Colocasia esculenta, Zones 7–10) beyond
Lush perennial borders surround a perfect green lawn.
Soft yellow dayliles almost glow.

Great garden - I love day lilies so much!! Right now mine are putting on a terrific show and I have lots so the bloom times are spread over a pretty long period of time. Your containers with succulents are so nice, too. I have a "succulent habit" that my husband is getting a little concerned about... : )
So pretty, I love the seating area looking at the view and all the pretty pots with plants in them. Everything is doing really well, those yellow Dayliles are spectacular!
