Back in June, friend of the GPOD Cherry Ong attended the Vancouver Hardy Plant Study Weekend and was kind enough to share photos of some of the gardens she toured. Today she’s taking us along to visit Thomas Hobbs and Brent Beattie’s garden.
Paris (Zones 5–9) has beautiful and unusual flowers. This relative of trilliums has mostly green flowers that reward closer inspection.
One part garden seat, one part garden art—beautiful and unusual
I love this sculpture in the garden.

Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome. I love visiting his garden every year and I hope I can continue to do so.
What a great antidote to a dreary, rainy afternoon here in NC. Lovely photos showcasing the marvelous use of foliar contrast and beautiful artwork in the garden.
I'm glad you enjoyed them. These were among the many beautiful gardens offered for tour by the Vancouver Hardy Plant Society at their Plant Study Weekend last June 2023.
Oh I need some of those gorgeous interesting Asian mayapples! As always an interesting & informative tour, thanks Cherry!
Thanks. Not sure if I mentioned this but Tom revamped this garden in front of his residence a year prior to these photos. It was previously planted with hebes and many perished as a result of the arctic outflow.
