A bushy, hairy-leaved annual, ‘Purple’ globe amaranth bears round purple flower bracts on thick stems in summer and early fall. This plant is useful as summer bedding or in a border or cutting garden. It is fairly drought tolerant and very heat tolerant. It grows to about 2 feet tall.

CareTolerant of most any well-drained soil of moderate fertility, but appreciates regular moisture. Full sun.
PropagationSow seed at 59° to 64°F in early spring indoors for earlier bloom, or outside after danger of frost has passed.
ProblemsGray mold and fungal leaf spots can sometimes be problems.
