At the beginning of winter, we invited FineGardening.com visitors to post their best winter photos to our 2013 Winter Garden Photo Contest. We got some beautifully icy entries, and had a difficult time selecting the winner. The editors, however, decided that Michel Marie Rose captured the most compelling photo this time round.

My favorite location to shoot is Lake Cliff Garden, at 5-acre tropical garden paradise overlooking Lake Michigan, which has been featured multiple times in Fine Gardening magazine. The Winter Rose was taken last February.
