Garden Photo of the Day

Alicia’s visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Day 1

We're going way back today, to some photos Alicia Bacon sent me almost a year ago! I keep discovering little gems in the GPOD inbox….if I haven't featured your garden yet, stay tuned…. If you'll recall, we visited Alicia's garden last week (HERE), and while compiling that post, the emails with these photos came up. They're from one of my very favorite public gardensAlicia says, "My husband and I visited Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens last August (2013) on our way up to go sailing in Maine. It was our second visit there and each time it is absolutely beautiful!" I agree, Alicia. It's one of the very best. ***We'll see more of Alicia's photos of the CMBG tomorrow–I'm flying today (Tuesday), so no time for a new subject til I get to Seattle…Maybe on Thursday I'll post some GPOD get-together snapshots!

For those of you attending the Northwest Flower & Garden Show next week, we'll meet in the lobby bar of the Sheraton right after my talk at 3:15 on Wednesday? Maybe 4:30? I'll be the one holding nametags and a pen….and please forgive me in advance. I am HORRIBLE with names….

Definitely put a smile on my face this morning. That furry green roof is one of the best I've seen!

Very beautiful! Love your "kitty" fence post, unique way to add some whimsy to the garden! And the grass roof on your cottage is really a fun idea too!

These photos show lots of fun details that I'm sure make this public garden a treat for adults and children alike. I can just imagine that adorable garden cottage with the grass roof being an inspiration for a modern day Hansel and Gretel fairy tale...ha, plus with the so innocent and beguiling kitty head fence posts...so cute!

Love the look of that grassy roof! All it needs is a ladder and a goat.

I'm visiting my 80-something Mom in Denver and she asked "what is that hairy roof about?" Ha! Then she asked if she could create a roof like that. Ahhh, these GPOD photos are inspirational for every age. Love the arched door on the shed and that sweet cupola peeking out from the locks of grass

It's such a wonderful place! Everything is so beautifully planned out and it was the first time I ever saw a fairy garden. It's a great place to spend a day. Each time it's a little different.
