We first visited Bob and Mary Ann Hines’ gorgeous garden in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, back in March (refresh your memory HERE). They were kind enough to send some photos from this season yesterday.
Bob and Mary Ann say, “Summer 2012 was one ot the hottest and driest on record here in Kentucky. Thanks to our new irrigation system the garden plants not only survived, but also provided us with some beautiful color all summer. These photos were taken mid-May thru the first of August.” Your garden definitely survived and thrived, Bob and Mary Ann! Thanks so much for sharing.

Beautiful! I have been thinking about putting in an irrigation system. Can we find out more about that since it seemed to make a difference?
Bob and Mary Ann, you have so many standout parts to your garden...it has to be such a pleasure to stroll about and gaze upon one beautiful vignette after another. Love the photo of the vibrant blue clematis(?) cresting over the arbor with the white blooms of the hydrangeas like splashing froth...so picturesque!
If ever there was a summer to be feel good about the investment in an irrigation system, this past one was it. I'm just below you in east TN so I know your new system was put to the test.
So many flowers, so little time! I too like that last photo with the lapiz clematis and white hydrangeas.
Gorgeous! I live in Louisville...do you ever have your garden on a tour? Would love to see it!
Happy, happy flowers... got to love irrigation systems!Your home must have looked like you own a floral shop, so many beautiful colors.
Rudbeckia & Coleus combo is so energetic while the oak leaf hydrangea & clematis pairing is delicate & soothing ..lively, colorful garden!
Good clear pictures and a nice variety.
So pretty! My favorites are your gorgeous collection of daylilies and the asst. Rudbeckia and coleus combo.
Beautiful! I just want to be your neighbour.
I could spend hours (maybe days or weeks) in your garden and be in my "happy place." Thanks for sharing. Awesome.
Could you please tell us a little more about your irrigation system?
The garden is beautiful. Can you provide information on the irrigation system and the brand name. Is it underground or above ground?
