When Nancy Goodwin began to garden, she wanted to grow everything. But more than that, she wanted to grow everything right. Nancy enjoyed the benefit of inheriting a strong layout for her gardens, which gave her the freedom to focus on growing plants. By taking the limitations of sunlight and soil as her starting point, Nancy proceeded to grow what worked, filling the formal layout of garden beds on her property with an informal yet carefully chosen collection of plants. Here are some photos of Montrose, which consists of 8 intensely gardened acres within a 61-acre property near Hillsborough, North Carolina.
