Comments: The intense scarlet red blooms of this bedding plant will stop you in your tracks. The newest member of the Cosmic Series, ‘Cosmic Red’ blooms all summer and looks great at the front of the border and in containers. As with other cosmos cultivars, grow this plant in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. The already hypnotic color will inten­sify as light levels increase. An introduction from the German plant-breeding company Benary, ‘Cosmic Red’ is now being trialed in the United States. It is hoped that we’ll see the likes of this plant and other members of the Cosmic Series—‘Cosmic Yellow’ and ‘Cosmic Orange’—in seed-company catalogs before too long.
