Pattie, thanks for sharing your garden with us. The daylillies are so pretty. My favorite daylillies are the ones that are highly ruffled on the edges.
Hi, Pattie, could you hear my "oohs and ahhs" from across the miles? You certainly have some beauties! I'm also a sucker for the pie crust edges and love when the flower has the kind of substance that those special characteristics look almost as good when the day ends as when the day begins...that's asking a lot of a daylily but some hybridizers are wizards of breeding.
I'm also very impressed with your companion plantings around the daylilies which really shows up in picture #2. And, then to see at the end how you rock the hosta plantings...outstanding!
Thank you.
I'm really in love with your Hosta and Hakonechloa border in front of the woods. What a stunning backdrop and definitely an instance where Hosta flowers are showcased to great effect. Lucious.
The hummingbirds enjoy the hosta blooms too!
These are so pretty, Pattie! I so agree about the summer not being a summer without daylilies! They sure bring another level of beauty to your gardens! There are so many kinds too! You have a beautiful garden. Thanks for sharing!
Good morning Patti, I believe all of your plant combinations are terrific. I am always on the lookout for blue plants and would like to know what the plants in the 1st & 2nd. photos are. I've been too late to comment in the past week or so but yours & those beautiful, neat & tidy gardens have me re-evaluating my jungles.
Good luck, Joe
P.S. Thank you Tim for i.d.ing the plants behind the hostas.
Photo 1 is a garden phlox and 2 is native monarda (bee balm). Sometime (most time), plants just move around in my garden for year to year.
Thank you for the info. I did'nt know Monarda was available in those colors. I have plants moving around also & Tickseed Golden Gain is a real thug in my gardens.
Good luck, Joe
Good morning, Pattie. You have a beautiful property with all of the mature trees and the way you did your shade border is so appealing. Love your daylily, monarda combos.
Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous, Pattie.
Day lillies are one of my favorites & they multiply like rabbits ! Love them
Good morning Pattie! Your gardens must be awash with color this time of year with all of your daylily's in bloom! It was the photo of your Hosta and Hakonechloa border that really caught me eye, though. I've never been a fan of hosta flowers and always remove them, but the mass of flowers in front of the forest backdrop is downright beautiful! Love the look!
Your daylilies are lovely, Pattie! I especially love the Hostas along the edge of the woods. They look so big and healthy. Are slugs ever a problem in Indiana?
Slugs are a problem with some hostas; I think that happens everywhere.
You are probably right, Pattie. I guess if we have enough moisture to keep hostas happy, we are likely to have conditions to keep slugs happy, too. I like to imagine there's some dream-land where hostas can live free of holes in their leaves.
I also love how you have bordered the woodland with the hosta! Your day lilies are beautiful. I'm a day lily person also. Vikki in VA.
I'm going to sound like an echo, but LOVE the ruffled day lilies and the hosta border in front of the trees is outstanding. Beautiful!
Beautiful daylilies and lawn! It is such a shame that such a beauty only last one day. Thanks for sharing Pattie!
Lovely photo of the hostas and Japanese Forest Grass near the woods!!! I especially like the ruffled edged day lilies in your garden. Would you happen to know the names of them? Perhaps I may have the same. I imagine the hummingbirds love the hosta blooms and they are such a welcome treat to the gardens!
There are so many great daylilies and you have some beauties. We recently picked a bloom from several of the daylilies around our house. I thought you might enjoy seeing them.
What a great display of flowers. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing that photo.
Fun way to show them off for a "photo shoot".
oooh - so pretty!
So pretty!!
Such pretty daylilies. And I love your hosta border at the edge of the woods! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it is Kerria!!
Fabuloso!!!!! (My word) Your pics are just so lovely!
Pattie, I'm late to the party, but I agree with everyone else- gorgeous! Your photos are very artsy! Beautiful daylilies- I just wish they bloomed longer!
The daylilies are very pretty, but It would be very helpful to know their names.
