This combo in Laura Crockett’s garden in Hillsboro, Oregon, is a study in strong contrasts. The black pot and burgundy-leaved eucomis create lots of excitement when combined with the silvery leaves of the brunnera and the hellebore. This also shows that you don’t have to rely on just plants to create fun contrasts. Containers can be moved off the patio and into your garden beds to serve this purpose, too. Small ornaments keep your interest just a bit longer, making you pause to take a second or third look.

This is a stunning combo using one of my favorite shade plants, Brunnera 'Jack Frost.' Love it!
