‘Gold’ Bar’ miscanthus

‘Gold Bar’ miscanthus (Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gold Bar’, USDA Hardiness Zones 5-8) is a compact miscanthus developed by Joy Creek Nursery in Scappoose, Oregon. Its heavily banded blades add energy and verve to a garden planting without being a thug to its neighbors. It prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil, and may eventually top out at 4 to 5 feet tall. This photo was taken at the West Tenessee Research and Education Center in Jackson, Tennessee.

    I think it's great for the FG daily photo to feature an individual plant, but I think it's most helpful if the photo shows that plant with a good companion planting. The text info provided was excellent

    Miscanthus is an amazing plant. We are one of the organizations spear heading a 1,000,000 acre effort in Canada. This crop is going to revolutionize bio fuel. Awesome to see this kind of news popping up all over the place.
