Today’s photos are from Edgardo Aro. Edgardo says, “I am a snowbird (northerner traveling south during winter) from Mayfield Village, Ohio. I just returned from my winter travels to the southern and southwestern states. On my trip back I visited the Kingwood Center in Mansfield, Ohio, on Easter Sunday.
“Even in the cold temperatures of early Ohio spring the garden was already displaying vibrant colors from the thousands of tulips, the flowering crab apples, the redbuds, and the cold-loving perennials. I was probably the first visitor to come to the garden that day but was soon joined by the locals, who appeared to have come from Sunday services wearing their finest and eager to see the colorful evidence of spring after a long winter.”
Beautiful, Edgardo! I had never heard of the Kingwood Center before–I’m so glad you introduced us to it!

What a coincidence! I have a visit planned to Kingwood this weekend. My dad dragged us kids there nearly every summer and now I visit every couple years. The gardens are particularly beautiful during daylily season. The conservatory is my favorite place on the grounds.
Visited Kingwood for the first time last year. Very beautiful, well maintained, and the small shop sells a wonderful variety of interesting plants.
You are so lucky to live near such a lovely public garden. I just visited their website and it seems like they have much to offer.
What a lovely view of a garden in early spring. As a southerner transplanted to England and then to Canada (also lived in N. Ohio and NYC), I have come to love spring as my favourite gardening season. The promise is what is so exciting. Thank you for the photos.
I live about an hour or so from Mansfield and have never been. Looks like a day trip should be planned! Thanks for sharing. Really a pretty place
What a great group of pictures! and nice to know that Spring is springing in Ohio. The flowering trees here in CA have been in bloom for about a month...dry, sunny, winter here.
Kingwood Center has some spectacular plantings. I look forward to my plants blossoming each spring too.
