Dumb question: Succession planting

| Posted in Mountain West Gardening on

I know you can succession plant vegetables, but are there flowering annuals you can succession plant as well? Is this a dumb question? I’m still new to gardening and not sure when to do what but I love flowers and want to have them as long as I can!

Not dumb at all! Earlier this year, I reviewed The Cut Flower Handbook by Lisa M. Ziegler. A flower farmer, she has excellent advice for succession planting. She is online at https://thegardenersworkshop.com/. You will need to know your last frost date and your first frost date. The flower and veg farmers often break up their planting schedules into 2 week periods, for instance, May 15, June 1, June 15, and so on. Vegetables lend themselves to succession planting as well. You may also want to look online for other flower farmers, Floret and Threeacrefarm have good advice, too.

Have fun planning this, and let us know how it turns out.
