Flowering shrubs that won’t die in my area?

My husband and I just moved to Greeley last summer and the bushes that were put in the front yard from the builders have died over summer. We’re looking for some type of bush or flowers that’ll come back each summer so we don’t have to replant. My only idea was choke cherry but that looked more like a small tree than a bush.

My favorite place to start looking for plants in our region is any list by Plant Select. They are a collaboration between Colorado State University, Denver Botanic Gardens and professional horticulturists. I especially love the Tartarian Maple, a small tree that grows 15-18 feet tall. It's beautiful, tough, and very drought-tolerant. But have a look at their site, they have a lot of plants to chose from at https://plantselect.org/plant.
