Grasses for winter interest

marti_n_midwest_moderator | Posted in Midwest Gardening on

Graybeard Grass (Spodiopogon sibiricus) is a midsize ornamental grass that thrives in partial shade.  With the cooler temperatures of fall and a hard freeze we can finally enjoy its seasonal change of color. It’s important to leave the foliage of grasses up for the winter, their seed heads are a food source for wildlife and their  feathery texture provides interest in the winter landscape.

Do you have any favorite ornamental grasses in your garden?

YES! A wonderful grass that is under used in our area. I am so happy to find another fan.
