Lazy Gardener Seed Collecting

Plantswoman | Posted in Pacific Northwest Gardening on

Fall seed collecting is the lazy gardeners way to catch up.    Many late season perennials, annuals, and vegetables still have seeds hanging on the stems.   Easy to gather them in paper bags and let them sit for a month or so before sorting putting them into seed packet and labeling.  This is a great way to save on buying seeds for next year and many seeds don’t require anything special to germinate.    Some will surprise you.  Dahlia seeds can be collected, sown in the spring and will become good sized plants with blooms in one year. (see cactus flowered dahlia below) Do you gather seeds?   What is your method?   What have you tried that surprised you with how easy it was?
