Liatris Spicata first time grower questions

Hi there, I planted Liatris spicata corms for the first time last spring, and they bloomed beautifully and seemed to thrive. My other perennials are all starting to emerge, but no signs of life from the liatris yet. Does anyone have input on whether these tend to emerge later than other perennials? I am unsure if this is typical or whether it may be an indicator that they did not over-winter as anticipated. I am in NC, western piedmont area zone 7b.

In my experience, they do emerge a bit on the late side, but I'd think in your zone they'd be up by now. Have you poked around a little in the soil? You should be seeing some sign of life. While it's more tolerant of moisture than most liatris, it's possible a wet winter could have rotted it. If you don't need to fill the spot, I'd wait and see, but it should be up very soon.
I agree with Chloe here, especially if it has been a cool or wet spring it may just be slow to wake up. I'd also say wait and see - another two weeks and you might see some signs of life!
So I checked my liatris yesterday here in zone 6b and it's about an inch out of the ground. It's not l. spicata, but liatris novae-angliae. I think they behave similarly. I hope yours is peeking out now!
I also agree they are a little slower.
