I planted pink muhly grass this spring. While the plants themselves look good, I was really looking forward to a bright pink fall, but they are all still just green. I’ve tried to Google it but have gotten mixed answers. Will the colors not change until the second year? Thanks!

I started with very small plants. It has taken about 3 years before they grew large enough to have a nice show of the pink flowers.
Thank you!
In Southern WI, the only muhly grass that has been consistently perennial for me is Muhlenbergia reverchonii UNDAUNTED ('PUND01S'). This selection has thrived for over 6 years and has gotten better coloration over the years. The photo attached is in early October! While it's lost it's pink now in Dec., it is still a textural marvel (until heavy snows!). Not sure if that answers your question but I theorize that they do get better with age!
Thank you! I'll try to be patient!
Where might I find/order this grass- Wisconsin grower
High Country Gardens have a couple of varieties of Muhly Grass via mail order
I am in Idaho and we have the same experience with Muhly grass. I plant 'Undaunted', and yes, it often takes until the second summer for it to color up and show off.
Thanks for sharing!
I have several types of Muhly grass here in the PNW. It grows well here even though it is not its favorite climate. I've found it needs some good heat in the summer, full sun, and little water. Mine doesn't color well if the summer is cool. I think Undaunted is the best but also love Plumtastic, White cloud (it has late white sparkler like blooms) and Pink Flamingo for it's larger size.
