Question on Care for Hypericum Calycinum (Creeping St. John’s Worth)

I got a bunch of these a couple of years ago to fill up a slope. They grew nicely, flowered, and started spreading.
This past winter was colder, and most plants are now brown or mostly brown.
Should I ‘prune’ them down to the ground, or should I allow the new growth (hoping there will be some) take over and eventually the brown will fall off?
The plants are advertised as good for zones 5/6.
I am in 6b.
Many thanks in advance!

Hi!
This frequently happens with this St John's Wort. I cut it to the ground and let the new shoots take over. The plants will look better and be vigorous. My plant always sent up strong spring growth, even after looking like a total goner after a rough winter. Hope this helps!
