Sort those seeds, polish the tools!

It’s March 24th, and we finally had a nice, warm, sunny day. This may last through the week…or not. One thing I know about this region is how foolhardy it can be to rely on “calendars.” They say our last frost date in Boise, ID, is anywhere from May 1st to the 10th. I did seed some mixed lettuces and greens in a raised bed a week ago. I think I saw green leaves trying to pop up today. Wishful thinking? You bet!
I will spend the next few days going through the piles of seeds, sorting them alphabetically, tossing any past their viability date, and making notes of what I might need. Yes, I ordered a few packs of seeds arriving this week. Tomorrow, I’ll take a spin through the oldest greenhouse in Boise (Edwards) to see how their plants are looking. I always find another herb, a different potato or canefruit or…all of the above to try.
I think this is where I say, “hope springs eternal in a gardener’s heart.”
Is there anything new for your garden this year?
