Summer Satisfaction

Dan_Southwest | Posted in Southwest Gardening on

With all its challenges, the summer season still offers rewards that just don’t come in any other season. I love to see the citrus crop starting to mature, promising plenty of fruit this fall and winter. And while plumerias are marginal in my Tucson garden, the occasional blooms are a real bonus that tells me I’ve been doing something right. Monsoon rains also bring on flushes of bloom in my echinopsis cacti, and my leucophyllums, adding color that makes the heat worth while. What’s your summer-only highlight?
