This slow-growing dwarf conifer has a wide, rounded crown and narrowly furrowed, partially peeling bark. Three-inch-long needles emerge tipped in gold before aging to green in winter.

Noteworthy CharacteristicsPerfect for tight spaces. Reaches half its mature size in 15 years. May be hardy in Zone 5 if protected from wind.

CareGrow in moist, well-drained soil.

PropagationRoot greenwood or semi-ripe cuttings cuttings of terminal shoots in summer or autumn. Cuttings from sideshoots seldom develop normally.
