Sea lavender is a rosette-forming perennial with mid- to dark-green leaves to 12 inches long, occasionally to 24 inches. Deep lavender-blue flowers are borne in panicles made of spikelets on wiry stems.
Noteworthy CharacteristicsGrows well in salty, windy, and sandy conditions. Useful in a sunny herbaceous border and for naturalizing. Flowers are good for cutting and drying.
CarePrefers sandy, well-drained soil and full sun.
PropagationSow seed in containers outdoors. Divide in spring.
